Back From the Brink: Stories of Perseverance and Survival

To share our stories is not only a worthwhile endeavor for the storyteller, but also for those who hear our stories and feel less alone because of it.

Being depressed and suicidal can be a lonely experience. Sometimes we feel as if we are the only ones suffering in this way. Knowing that other people have gone through the same struggle and have recovered can bring us hope and the courage to keep moving forward one step at a time. We, too, can become triumphant survivors.

In the links below, you will find the stories of people who survived their suicidal crises. Some were members of my peer support groups, others were YouTube viewers, and others wrote to me and shared their stories after they had read my book, Healing from Depression. All of their stories share one thing in common: Each person persevered until they found a way to relieve their suffering so that suicide was no longer necessary to escape their pain.
